Red Grid 2.0 Inkjet Paper Application Instructions

Inkjet Paper for White or Light Colored T-Shirts

Printing Instructions

We recommend printing through an inkjet printer with pigment inks, such as the Epson WorkForce series.

Print design on the blank side of the paper in REVERSE or in other words, flip it horizontally. This can be done within the design program or printer’s settings (see your printer manual for more information). Use standard printing settings for plain paper, and at a medium image quality level. Single-sheet feeding is recommended.

For best quality results, Red Grid 2.0 can be trimmed with a vinyl cutter to offer a lighter, softer feel on the garment. We do not recommend trimming to the exact edge of the image - an approximate 1/8” bleed from print edge is advised for best results

Application Instructions

Heat Press

Prepare heat press to 350F-375F.  Cotton - 350-375F Polyester - 350F

  1. Place heat transfer paper with the image facing down in the desired position on fabric.
  2. Using above recommended temperature range, apply firm pressure for 15-20 seconds.
  3. Peel the transfer immediately after pressing. For the softest hand, lightly stretch transfer horizontally to help reduce cracking after washing.
  4. For improved washability, after first press, recover with a silicone or parchment sheet, and press for additional 15-20 seconds, and lightly stretch again.

Hand Iron

  1. Prepare ironing surface - iron onto a hard surface, NOT an ironing board. Place a pillow case, t-shirt, or thin sheet between your ironing surface and garment.
  2. Adjust iron to the highest setting. Don’t steam. Place heat transfer paper onto fabric, face down.
  3. Press in individual steps, with firm pressure across the image. Hold each press for approx. 45 seconds, until the entire image has been covered by the iron & pressed under the heat. Approx. time for 8.5” x 11” size image is about 5-6 minutes.
  4. Peel the transfer immediately, and lightly stretch for the softest hand.

Troubleshooting FAQs:

What settings do I use to print on Red Grid 2.0?

We recommend using a Photo Quality or a High Quality setting for your inkjet printer to ensure that the printer slows down and prints a high-quality image. This is controlled normally through your printer manager on your computer. Some printers by default are set to High Speed instead of High Quality which can pull the paper through too fast and cause lines in the print. Leave the paper setting to Standard paper.

My image didn't transfer fully.  I pressed at the right temperature and time.

Red Grid paper requires very firm pressure to make sure your image transfers.  We usually suggest maxing out your press at times to ensure a good transfer.

I'm getting this glossy section on my shirt the size of my paper after I press.

That is normal with inkjet heat transfer paper.  You can usually minimize that by stretching out the shirt immediately after pressing.  That will also fade once you've put the shirt through a few wash cycles.  Or you can eliminate it by using a vinyl cutter to cut around the design.

Can I use a vinyl cutter with Red Grid 2.0?

Yes you can.  You can use any vinyl cutter you choose as long as it can read registration marks.
